The Story of our Alfetta Race Car

The next three photos are actually computer renderings imposed on a photo background. This process gave us the flexability to dream up the best graphic and color scheme for the actual finish work.

Now it's time to carefully strip the interior and exterior of the car

To keep the car as light as possible, the thick heavy rubberized coating on the floorboards had to be painstakingly removed.

We designed and welded our own 6 point roll cage to SCCA specs. After installation we painted the interior with a metal etch primer and a matte urethane top coat to reduce any glare.

Next we welded metal patches over all the small openings in the body like the gas tank filler door, and the side marker lenses. On top of that, the doors were stripped of all internals including the windows. We then fabricated polycarbonate windows for all the doors, again to keep the car as light as possible.

After choosing our favorite digital rendering, the six color paint scheme was then painted, wet sanded, and buffed in three seperate stages.

We even designed printed our own graphics.

The engine was handled with extreme care. From special ground racing cams to a one of a kind ported SPICA manifold. From top to bottom it is a work of art.

The interior guages are nestled in a housing of our own design, also the transaxle received a complete reconditioning and a racing clutch package.

Here Gerardo Michele Sr. helps put the finishing touches on the engine assembly. The Alfetta racecar project has come to a close. Here it is driven out of the shop for the first time after its transition from a street car to a track car.

The Alfetta had a great maiden race season. Here it is chasing down an old seasoned Volvo 122 at Grattan Raceway. The Alfetta finished a respectable 4th at that feature race.
