This 1967 Volvo 122 S is David’s brother Jerry’s first race car and European Auto’s second car on the track.

This Volvo was restored and converted into a race car for Joe Auffrey by Dan West & Arthur Vaandering in 1989. Many improvements were made through the years, one of the more enduring design features is the elegantly designed roll cage by Chad Klungle. Joe raced the Volvo with VSCDA and Midwest Councel for 18 years before he got out of the sport after the Volvo blew up a new Ray Friewald prepared motor in 2007.

Jerry & his father Gerardo purchased the car from Joe in 2008, and using an old spare motor the Volvo got Jerry through racing school and the May VSCDA race at GingerMan. Unfortunately, the Volvo barely finished the last race, crossing the finish line on 2 cylinders and sporting a melted piston.
