1960 Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet
This regal old Cabriolet was restored years ago. While it still looked pretty good it was plagued with issues that stemmed from shortcuts taken in the previous restoration. Unfortunately the structural elements were so heavily modified that reconstructing to original specifications was a huge challenge. Fortunately, a well preserved Cabriolet owned by another customer was available to help create a road map to success on this project. To start off every surface was completely stripped to bare metal. Then the frame and panels were fabricated and aligned properly. Many body panels were no longer available so they were skillfully handcrafted in house. After all of the metal had been rebuilt and the body refinished the exterior was painted its original color Weisgrau DB158, a lovely off white. The interior will be returned to original as well, which was documented as Swedisch Birke Grun (Swedish Birch Green). The interior leather and wood combination is extremely rare and will be absolutely stunning! When finished this lovely old boulevard cruiser, who we call Lucy, will look and drive like she did when she rolled out of the dealership in 1960.
